Frequently Asked Questions

What makes Natural Connections different from other equine assisted learning facilties?

Natural Connections stands out from other equine assisted learning facilities due to our innovative approach to teaching life skills. Our team is highly trained and certified in first aid, mental health first aid, and holds diplomas and degrees in child and youth work. We are committed to providing the best possible experience for our clients.

Do I have to wear a helmet?

When it comes to working with horses, safety should always be a top priority. That's why we require all participants under the age of 16 to wear helmets. For those over 16, we strongly encourage helmet use not only for their own safety but also to set a positive example for younger individuals at the facility.

Do we get to ride the horses?

Equine-assisted learning is a unique and effective way to achieve personal and professional goals without the need for horseback riding. Our courses focus on working with horses on the ground, allowing individuals to develop important skills and insights through interaction with these magnificent animals.

Do you host courses/servcies off site?

Our equine assisted learning courses are exclusively offered on-site, while our pet first aid courses can be conducted both on and off-site. If you are interested in hosting a pet first aid course, please do not hesitate to contact us so we can discuss the details further.

Can I bring my own pet to practice first aid on?

Is it safe?

At Natural Connections, we pride ourselves on safety. We take all necessary precautions to ensure both participants and animals remain safe throughout their time with us. Our staff are highly trained professionals equipped to handle situations that may arise. It's important to remember we are working with animals who, although highly trained, may occasionally become frightened and react accordingly.

At our courses, we provide all the necessary tools and resources for you to learn and practice your skills. While we understand the importance of pets in your life, we kindly ask you not to bring them to our courses. Instead, we offer dummy dogs/cats and trained and predictable dogs for you to practice on. Once you complete the course, we recommend practicing the learned skills on your own pet. Thank you for your understanding.

What should I wear?

At our facilities, we don't have heat or air conditioning, so we recommend wearing comfortable clothes suitable for the weather. We want you to feel comfortable during your visit, so please dress accordingly.

Does your facility have a restroom?

Yes, we do have a washroom on site. However, please note that it is not wheelchair accessible.

How do I pay?

We offer multiple payment options for your convenience. You can pay with cash, cheque, or-transfer. Please note that for services that require deposits, we only accept e-transfer. Thank you for choosing us!
